How to add a gym membership card to Google Wallet
Google Wallet works on any Android phone with Play services, Samsung Galaxy included, and it is the same wallet on all of them. A membership card goes in as a generic pass with your barcode or QR on the front.
Samsung, Pixel, everyone
Samsung Wallet exists, but Google Wallet is installed on Galaxy phones too, and a pass made for Google Wallet opens in it directly. TapIn makes Google Wallet passes only, which covers every current Android phone.
How the pass is made
Google Wallet passes are described by a signed token rather than a file. Tapping Add to Google Wallet sends you to Google with that token, Google shows a preview, and one more tap saves it. Google draws the code itself, in the card's own format for nearly every symbology.
Why the logo is stored
Google loads a pass's logo and hero image by web address at save time and whenever it refreshes the card, so those two images have to sit at a URL. TapIn keeps the logo tile you built under a random name derived from its contents, with no link to you. Your name and number are in the token, not on any server.
Where it shows up
In the Wallet app under passes, and as a quick-access card from the lock screen if you enable it in Wallet's settings. Google Wallet does not suggest passes by location the way Apple does, so pin it to the front of the stack if you check in daily.
